2020 INFOMATION PACK
Our Mission – Is to offer exceptional dance tuition, at affordable pricing, creating a family like culture, where students can learn and thrive. We aim to provide our students with the best opportunities, in one of the best facilities in Adelaide, and develop well trained, technical dancers, all in a Friendly, Positive, & Supportive environment.
First Lessons: We offer all first lessons FREE! So we welcome you to come along and try any of our classes in your appropriate age group, and see for yourself, what everyone Loves about GSD!
Student Ages: Troupe Age Groups go by the age of the student on January 1st 2020. E.g. If a student was 6 on the 1st of January they would be in the 6&U category.
Cheer & Pom Ages go by the age of the competitor on the 31st of December 2020. E.g. If you are attending a “Mini” age group, athletes must be 9 years or younger in the year of the competition, meaning if they are turning 10 within 2020, they must go into the next age group.
Recreational/Competition: GSD offers classes to cater for all! Either just for Fun & Fitness, or Elite Competition teams. Recreational (R) is perfect for beginners/Intermediate dancers, who work towards performing at our End Of Year Concert. Competition Teams (C) We do offer competitive dance and cheer teams, in all ages. Students are required to take part in extra lessons alongside their troupe/cheer training. We do not hold any auditions here at GSD, everyone is encouraged and welcome!
Enrolment & Waiver Forms: Please ensure you fill out our schools mandatory Enrolment/Cheer & Dance forms, and return to admin on your first lesson or at the start of every New Year. It is very important that these forms are completed as they contain all relevant details in the event of an emergency.
Sports Vouchers Accepted: All Primary School students are eligible for a yearly $100 Sports Voucher that can be used towards your term fees at GSD. Please see admin or email – email@example.com for more info.
Term #1 Date’s: All Classes Will Be Commencing:
The week of – Tuesday the 28th of January – Wednesday 8th of April (Running alongside school terms).
Class listings for 2020: (Please note All classes are Subject to change depending on enrolments). (R) – Recreational (C) – Competition
Bubs & Me (6 Months – 2 yrs) – The Perfect way to introduce music and movement with your little one!
Toddler Dance/Tiny Tribe (2-4 yrs) – A class combining Movement, Imagination, & Music, as well as Dance & Gym Fundamentals. Perfect for boys & girls who are full of energy and love music!
Tiny Stars Dance (R) (3-5 yrs) – A Fun, Casual class, that combines Ballet, Jazz & Hip Hop for little ones. A great stepping stone into dance, & the perfect way to get your child moving and grooving!
6&U Troupe (R) (4-6 yrs) – A class that combines both styles of Jazz and Tap.
Tap Troupe (R) (All Ages) – A lesson focusing on Tap fundamentals.
Acrobatics (Skills Class) – Classes focus on Stretch, Tumbling, Balance/Control, and Acro Fundamentals.
Classical Ballet (R) (C) – A straight Classical Ballet Technique class. Exams are also available.
Hip Hop (R) (C) (All Ages) – Incorporating different Styles of street dance, to upbeat and RnB music.
Jazz & Lyrical Troupe (R) (All Ages) – A class that combines both styles of Jazz and Lyrical/Contemporary.
Cheer & Pom (R) (C) – Our Cheer classes are a very energetic lesson that involves lots of physical elements such as: Stretch, Tumbling, Jumps, Stunting, and Dance.
Our Pom classes are also lots of fun, learning routines & strong motions with pom poms.
Dance-Ability (R) (All Ages) – Classes are offered for students with learning or physical disabilities, or sensory issues. Classes are capped to a smaller number and every class is designed around each child’s needs. A perfect social platform for students, and a great way to enjoy all the benefits that dance brings.
Stretch & Conditioning (All Ages) – A great way to improve your overall Flexibility, Strength, & Control.
Tumble Classes (All Ages) – Tiny Tumble (3-7yrs), Level 1 (beginner), Level 2 (Intermediate), Level 3 & Over (Advanced). All students will start in the beginner level and can advance higher as they master each level.
Exam Classes (All Ages) – Offered for students wishing to progress their dance training and future opportunities. Exams are offered in Jazz, Tap, Ballet, & Acro.
Technique Classes (All Ages) – This class is the perfect way to boost your overall Dance Technique, focusing on Kicks, Turns, Leaps, and the important elements associated with Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, & Acrobatics.
Private Lessons: Are Available to book anytime with one of our teachers for extra technique and skills training, in all styles of Dance, Cheer & Vocal. Students may also be selected to take part in solo and duo routines. However this is by selection only, and students must be taking part in the full curriculum (Troupe, Ballet, Exams, & Technique) in order to do solo tuition. For more information on private lessons, and to secure a time for 2020, please contact admin or your teacher directly.
What To Wear:
Troupe Classes – Please dress neatly in items such as a Leotard, Singlet, shorts, Crop top’s etc.
Shoes – 6&U – Pink Ballet shoes, 8’s & Over – Tan Coloured Jazz shoes, Tan Coloured Tap Shoes (all ages).
Hip Hop – Anything casual and free fitting, and sneakers.
Acro – Tight fitted clothing such as leotards, Crop tops, short-shorts etc. No shoes required for Acro classes.
Cheerleading – GSD Club Polo Top/or a Crop Top, Nike Pro short-shorts (or any plain black). Normal sneakers are fine to start with, however cheer shoes will be required for all students. Please see admin for uniform information.
Ballet – Students Must arrive with their hair neatly pulled up into a high bun, and dressed in a leotard and skirt, with pink coloured ballet tights. Pink coloured Ballet shoes (Ribbons proffered).
Hair – Must be neatly pulled

Competitions & End Of Year Concert:
*2020 Competition Dates – All competition students will be advised of their competition dates.
*GSD’s End Of Year Concert – All students will be involved in our end of year concert held on Saturday the 12th of December, at Prince Alfred College. All information on times etc, will be posted on our Website and Facebook page closer to the event.
